Welcome to Maysville, Georgia, a small town located in the foothills of the Piedmont region in Northeast Georgia. Split in half by the Jackson-Banks County line, Maysville has a past rich in history and character.
Long before white settlers arrived in this part of present-day northeast Georgia, Cherokee and Creek Indians inhabited the land running along the Oconee (Etoho) River. This river was the dividing line between these two tribes. In the early to mid1800s the area remained little more than an outpost of less than a dozen farming families. Then along came a stagecoach route from Athens to Clarkesville that would become a thriving farming community with doctors, lawyers, merchants and farmers. But, it was the laying of the Northeastern Railroad Company's tracks in 1876, along the former stagecoach route, that began a dramatic change in the area's commercial and residential development. This "economic gateway" would allow Maysville an important link to the outside world. How times change, now it is only a short distance from the busy Interstate 85 which runs SW/NE from Alabama to South Carolina via Atlanta and which will lead you to Bell Acres Resort, still nestled in the peaceful Georgia backwoods.
Today, nudists/naturists can experience this beautiful mountainous area with a stay at Bell Acres. The charming, rustic resort offers beautiful hiking trails with an Indian Burial Ground that has been preserved. After a leisurely hike, a dip in the pool is a tranquil experience as it is surrounded by the beautiful wonders of nature. Deer, wild Turkey and a huge variety of bird life are often to be seen on the 113-acre property.
A short walkway leads you to the clubhouse, the hot tub and the British style Pub, the Bell and Whistle, to enjoy the company of the many members that love Bell Acres and call the club home. There are lots of spaces for RVs with full facilities as well as cottages for rent and the camping ground.
Since the new owners acquired the resort late last year, the club has undergone some major improvements to both the infrastructure and to the amenities that continue to make the club a welcoming place for all. The renovations seem to change on a weekly basis with quaint functional art, such as a wood sculpture used to hang your robe as you enter the pub and the masks that line the walls of the 15 seat hot tub a place full of conversation and laughter. The Bell and Whistle is fast becoming a warm a cozy place to chat with friends and friendship is what Bell Acres is all about. Great people and a beautiful place to stay for a day or a week or longer, so stop by Bell Acres you will love it.
